# Usage Limits

> Understand how FAII usage limits work - keywords, questions, competitors, and content generation caps per plan.

<Info>
  **Quick Answer:** Each plan has limits on keywords, chat questions per week, competitors, and content generation. You'll be notified at 80% and 100% usage. Existing monitoring never stops; you just can't add new items until the next billing cycle or upgrade.

* How limits are counted
* What happens when you hit a limit
* How to manage your usage

## Limits by Plan

| Resource                     | Starter | Professional | Enterprise |
| ---------------------------- | :-----: | :----------: | :--------: |
| **Keywords**                 |    25   |      100     |    500+    |
| **Chat questions/week**      |   100   |      500     |   1,000+   |
| **Competitors**              |    3    |      10      |  Unlimited |
| **Campaigns**                |    1    |       3      |  Unlimited |
| **Content generation/month** |    0    |       2      |  Unlimited |
| **WordPress sites**          |    1    |       3      |  Unlimited |
| **Technical audits/month**   |    1    |   Unlimited  |  Unlimited |

## How Limits Are Counted

### Keywords

* Total unique keywords across ALL campaigns
* Adding the same keyword to two campaigns counts as 2
* Paused keywords don't count (Enterprise only)

### Chat questions/week

* Resets every 7 days from your billing start day
* Each keyword generates multiple questions across personas
* Each question sent to each platform counts once
* 25 keywords × 4 questions × 4 platforms = 400 questions

### Competitors

* Total unique competitors across all campaigns
* Same competitor in two campaigns counts as 2

### Content generation

* Counts per billing month
* Each "Generate Content" click = 1 article
* Regenerating an article counts as a new generation
* Discarded articles still count

## Notifications

### 80% usage warning

When you reach 80% of any limit:

* Dashboard notification appears
* Email sent (if notifications enabled)
* Banner on relevant settings page

### 100% limit reached

When you hit 100%:

* Dashboard notification with upgrade link
* Email notification
* Feature becomes unavailable until reset or upgrade

## What Happens at the Limit

| Resource           | At Limit                      |        Existing Data       |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------- | :------------------------: |
| **Keywords**       | Can't add new keywords        |    Monitored normally ✅    |
| **Questions/week** | No more questions until reset |  Previous data retained ✅  |
| **Competitors**    | Can't add new competitors     |    Monitored normally ✅    |
| **Content**        | Can't generate new articles   |  Published content stays ✅ |
| **Audits**         | Can't run new audits          | Previous audit available ✅ |

<Note>
  FAII never interrupts existing monitoring. Hitting a limit only prevents adding NEW items. Your current keywords, competitors, and data collection continue unaffected.

## Managing Usage

### Staying within limits

* **Remove underperforming keywords** - Keywords with 0% mention rate after 4+ sessions
* **Consolidate competitors** - Remove competitors who never appear in results
* **Prioritize quality** - 20 great keywords beat 100 mediocre ones
* **Plan content generation** - Use your monthly articles on highest-priority gaps

### Upgrading

If you consistently hit limits:

1. Go to **Account > Billing**
2. Click **Upgrade Plan**
3. New limits apply immediately
4. Billing is prorated for the current period

### Optimizing without upgrading

| Strategy                                     | Effect                                |
| -------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------- |
| Remove low-value keywords                    | Frees keyword slots                   |
| Combine similar keywords | Reduces count without losing coverage |
| Focus on fewer, better competitors | Quality over quantity |
| Save content generation for high-impact gaps | Maximum ROI per article |

## Billing Cycle

* Limits reset on your billing date each month
