## Types of SERP Gaps

### AI Overview Citation Gaps

The highest-value SERP gaps:

| Scenario | Gap? | Priority |
| ------------------------------------------ | :--: | :---------: |
| Overview exists, competitor cited, you not | Yes | Critical |
| Overview exists, no one cited | No | Opportunity |
| No overview exists | No | N/A |

AI Overview citations are valuable because they appear above all organic results and carry high user trust.

| **User context** | Searching Google | Asking AI directly |

5. **PAA gaps** - Competitor answers in People Also Ask
6. **Multi-competitor gaps** - Several competitors rank, you don't

### Lower priority

7. **Page 2 gaps** - Competitor ranks 11-20, you don't rank
8. **Single-feature gaps** - One specific SERP feature missing
9. **Low-volume keyword gaps** - Gap exists but few people search for it

* **One page, many gaps** - A comprehensive article can close multiple SERP gaps for related keywords
* **Technical SEO matters** - Even great content won't rank if your site has technical issues
* **Monitor after publishing** - Check subsequent sessions for position improvements
