Using History for Strategy

Identifying what works

Compare periods before and after actions you took:
  • Published content → Check next 3-4 sessions for improvement
  • Added keywords → Track mention rates for new keywords
  • Changed competitors → See if new comparisons reveal insights
Trend PatternWhat It Means
Steady increaseStrategy is working - continue
PlateauMay need new content or keywords
Sudden dropInvestigate - competitor action or technical issue
VolatileNormal fluctuation - look at moving average
Consistent declineCompetitors investing; action needed

Seasonal patterns

Some industries have seasonal AI visibility patterns:
  • Holiday seasons may affect recommendation patterns
  • Industry events can shift mention distributions
  • Platform updates can temporarily affect all brands
Look at year-over-year comparisons (Enterprise) to identify seasonal effects.
